Q1: What is the process for entering?
A1. Magazine or newspaper editor/writer: an email was sent to the publication’s Editor-in-Chief and senior editors directing them to enter via pgbeautyandgroomingawards.ca. To submit, entrants will complete the online entry form and submit electronic work samples files through pgbeautyandgroomingawards.ca.
Model, photographer or stylist: an email was sent to modeling and artist agencies and photographers directing them to enter via pgbeautyandgroomingawards.ca. To submit, entrants will complete the online entry form and submit electronic work samples files through pgbeautyandgroomingawards.ca.
Q2. How should electronic work sample files be submitted?
A. Work samples must be submitted as:
- Clean, original size PDF tearsheets in the quantities listed on the entry form
- Each work sample must be a single PDF file (can include multiple pages). Only PDF files will be accepted.
- High-resolution PDF files at 300 dpi (each file should be no larger than 5MB)
- Published in Canadian media between August 2011 – July 2012
Q3. Can I enter more than one category? How do I do this?
A3. Yes, where relevant you may enter the same piece of work for multiple categories.
If you wish to enter more than one category, click the various categories you wish to enter on the entry form. Then you will be able to upload your work samples per category.
Q4. How many times can I enter one category?
A4. To ensure the judges review the best of the best, we strongly encourage you to enter your best work in the quantities listed in the Entry Criteria found in the entry form. If you feel you can’t decide on your best work, you may enter more than one submission per category.
Q5. What is the entry deadline?
A5. All submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012
Q6: Is there a fee associated with entry?
A15: There is no purchase or fee necessary to enter the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards. However in the event entrants choose to submit a hard copy entry if they experience difficulty with the online entry site, they are responsible for covering the cost of sufficient postage to submit their entry form and work samples via mail.
Q7: Do entries need to contain P&G Beauty & Grooming products in order to be considered?
A16: Absolutely not. The P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards are sponsored and created by P&G Beauty & Grooming for the purpose of shining a spotlight on the Canadian beauty, grooming and fashion industry as a whole without bias.
Q8: I am a Canadian model / make-up artist / hair stylist / photographer working abroad. Can I submit work samples from international publications?
A8: Canadians working abroad can definitely enter but only published Canadian editorial work will be considered. This ensures the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards in Canada are Canadian through and through.
Q9: Why is P&G Beauty & Grooming creating the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards?
A9: P&G Beauty & Grooming is thrilled to host the fourth-annual Canadian P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards to acknowledge excellence and promote talent in the Canadian beauty, grooming and fashion industry.
Specifically, the Awards will recognize the best of Canada’s beauty, grooming and fashion editorial content as well as the incredible creative talent in the country, including make-up artists, hair stylists, photographers and models. The P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards were first created in the UK in 2004 and introduced to Canada in 2009. We look forward to bringing the event to Canada for a fourth consecutive year, shining a well-deserved spotlight on the Canadian industry.
Q10: What are the awards categories?
A10: The 2012 awards will consist of 15 categories as follows:
- Best Magazine Cover
- Best Beauty Editor of a Magazine
- Best Scientific Beauty Feature: Magazine or Newspaper – English and French
- Best Creative Beauty Feature: Magazine or Newspaper – English and French
- Best Fashion Editor of a Magazine
- Fashion Feature: Magazine or Newspaper – English and French
- Best Male Grooming Feature: Magazine or Newspaper – English and French
- Male Fashion Feature: Magazine or Newspaper – English and French
- Fashion or Beauty Blog – English and French
- Fashion or Beauty Website
- NEW! Best Art Direction (magazine or newspaper)
- Best New Face
- Photographer of the Year
- Hair Stylist of the Year
- Make-up Artist of the Year
Categories three, four, six, seven, eight and nine will include English and French awards as judging is based on the written word.
Q11: When and where will the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards be held? Who will attend?
A 11: The high-style event will take place in October/November 2012 , at the Carlu in Toronto, Ontario, beginning with a cocktail reception at 7:00 p.m., followed by the awards presentation at 8:00 p.m. and after-party. Attendance will be invitation-only and invitations will be non-transferrable. Guests will include award nominees, our esteemed judging panel, industry media, publishers and many others from the world of beauty, grooming, fashion and style.
Q12: Will prizes be awarded?
A12: A total of 20 trophies will be distributed at the awards presentation in October/November 2012 — one for each of the fourteen awards categories with the exception of categories three, four, six, seven, eight and nine where one English writer and one French writer will receive an award. Each recipient will be awarded one Tiffany & Co. crystal trophy (approximate retail value: $240). Prizes will be awarded during the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards presentation in October/November 2012 .
Q13: If I will be unable to attend the awards ceremony. How can I access a list of winners and/or obtain my award?
A13: Anyone who wins and is not in attendance will be notified after the event and arrangements will be made to deliver the award. A complete list of winners will be available on pgbeautyandgroomingawards.ca and on facebook.com/PGBeautyGroomingAwards on the Friday following the Awards.
